CALL IT indulgent, call it self-destructive, even chaotic, but the Replacements' show at the Palace on Thursday was one that eyewitnesses aren't likely to forget. The Minneapolis quartet's records have earned impressive acclaim, but on stage, singer-composer-guitarist Paul Westerberg and company stubbornly repelled all efforts to take their original music seriously.
