Triumph Of A Late Bloomer: Robert Wyatt
Robert Sandall, Daily Telegraph, 2 October 2003
CONTRARY TO THE impression given by the list of cool, metropolitan mates who play on his latest album - Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, Paul Weller, Brian Eno and Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music among them – Robert Wyatt is a countryman these days. And we are not talking the rockbroker belt of the Home Counties here – he and his wife Alfreda ("Alfie") live in Louth, on the edge of the Lincolnshire wolds, where the not terribly bright lights of the nearby resort of Cleethorpes (where the Wyatts have a small beach hut) are about as frivolous as it gets.
