Twisted Sister: An Interview with Jay Jay French
Joe Matera, Musician (Australia), 2000
Taking their lead from their glam-rock roots, Twisted Sister went on to become one of the biggest bands of the 80s. In 1984, the band, now comprised of frontman Dee Snider, guitarists Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda, bass player Mark "the animal" Mendoza and drummer O.J.Pero, released the album Stay Hungry, which went on to become one of the biggest albums of the year, and along with the albums singles, We're Not Gonna Take It, I Wanna Rock and The Price, skyrocketed the band to super stardom. I recently spoke to guitarist Jay Jay French, who nowadays runs his own record company and manages the band, Sevendust, about life as a Twisted Sister.
