WASP: Lyceum, London
Simon Witter, NME, 6 October 1984
THEY DONT MAKE metal mutants like they used to. Whilst WASP obviously consider themselves the baddest muthas to walk this earth, many of their audience looked like repressed suburban kids on an office awayday. The band score top marks in the ugly bastard stakes, play very LOUD, and Blackie Lawless does a brilliant strangled cat impression (Noddy Holder stylee), so they must be pretty hot poop in metal circles. But Id come for the show (weve all made up our minds about HM years ago) and that was disappointingly lame.
