Adele Bertei

Adele Bertei is the author of Peter and the Wolves (about her punk band the Wolves with Pere Ubu bandmate Peter Laughner) and Why LaBelle Matters (about the band LaBelle with Sarah Dash, Nona Hendryx and Patti Labelle and how their band transformed how people saw "girl groups"). 

Adele's musical history is a who's who of the '80s underground, performing and recording as a backing vocalist for artists such as Culture Club, Whitney Houston, Sandra Bernhard, and Matthew Sweet among others. She has released records as a solo artist on Geffen and Chrysalis and has had international dance and pop hits with Thomas Dolby ('Hyperactive!') and Jellybean ('Just a Mirage'). She has also written songs for artists as diverse as Sheena Easton, Arthur Baker, Lydia Lunch, and the Pointer Sisters, among others.
