Street Fighting Stone: Mick Jagger Talks
Miles, International Times, 17 May 1968
This conversation was taped over cups of tea at my house on Lord North Street one afternoon a few days after the famous anti-Vietnam war demonstration outside the American Embassy on Grosvenor Square. Both Mick and I had been there when the police charged the crowd on horseback, injuring hundreds of demonstrators. The tape gives a good idea of Micks political and mystical views at that time, halfway through the sessions for Beggars' Banquet. It was originally published in the underground newspaper International Times, where it was printed in green over a clashing red background, rendering it virtually unreadable!
