ALEX CHILTON – one-time Box Top, Big Star, Cramps producer, etc. – is possibly rock’s greatest cult hero. Like many, I’ve been aware of this legendary status for years now, without knowing exactly who he is, so the trek to Harlesden was a must. But my "trek" was a joke next to the 22-hour odyssey of car crashes and missed ferries that Chilton had undertaken since his gig the previous night in Munich, a journey which ended shortly before he was due onstage.
