Don Covay: Super Dude #1
Charlie Gillett, Rolling Stone, 22 November 1973
Super Dude? It sounds like this year's version of Muddy Waters' 'Hoochie Coochie Man' or Pickett's 'Midnight Mover' but where those men defined love as all push and shove, Don draws it as two-way street in which he's the bad driver. This super dude admits his weaknesses. Further than that, he seems to relish them, masochistically agonizing over every last detail of his woman's infidelity, which he confesses from the start is fully justified by his own two timing.
