Jimi Hendrix: Wild Man Of The Guitar
Chris Welch, Melody Maker, 22 December 1973
AS A ROCK HERO Jimi was one of the best, one of the greatest. Lying on his back playing flaming guitar with his teeth. Fanitastic! He looked mean, slick and ugly. He was outrageous in a Bob Dylan hairstyle, gaudy clothes, a sly smile, tongue licking nervously over his lips. Young girls were supposed to scream. Yet Jimi appealed to young white, boys who came looking for outrage, rebellion and the best blues guitar they ever heard.
