"FABULOUS... NOT so fabulous," SAID Liz Phair as she strapped on her red Fender Musicmaster guitar and faced a hall full of fans from Hollywood's outskirts. The latter phrase was virtually the last spasm of doubt from the legendarily performance-shy Phair. She proceeded with contented elan to reel off two dozen songs. Phair was ever steady and often superlative throughout the hour and 10 minute set; the specters of stage fright and sophomore slump were silenced.
