Lou Reed

THERE WAS once a time when I thought that Lou Reed was the single most important person working in contemporary American rock 'n' roll. I thought and still think that the Velvet Underground were one of the most original and inventive bands I've ever heard, and I thought that Lou Reed wrote some truly memorable rock 'n' roll songs.
