The Futureheads: Colston Hall, Bristol
Stephen Dalton, The Times, 5 April 2012
UNVEILING THEIR new unplugged direction at the start of a national tour, the Futureheads brought an agreeable blend of close harmonies, deadpan jokes and unlikely cover versions to Bristol. Despite declining commercial fortunes in recent years, this Sunderland quartet have always displayed more irreverent humour and musical ambition than most of their indie-rock peers. Their digression into a cappella folk on their newly released fifth album, Rant, feels both witty and audacious.
