Eddy Grant: Killer On The Rampage
Gavin Martin, NME, 13 November 1982
HE'S A very admirable figure, is Eddy Grant; he's got the whole business sussed, sewn up, he really has. Each year he releases a few impeccable pop singles bristling with hooklines, great to dance to, bursting with vitality. The singles go out and make a mint on the international market (so much in fact that Eddy can ship himself and his family off from Stoke Newington to Barbados) and while the likes of his present smash hit 'I Don't Wanna Dance' is notching up the ackers you can be sure that in between eating those exotic fruits, splashing in the surf and soaking up that climate he's started to record, write and produce some more of his skilful, irresistible pop music. It won't be a radical departure his own background provides enough scope and the things about his particular formula is that no-one else knows the secret but it's sure to come up sounding as sundrenched and daisy fresh as its predecessors
