The Cure, Love and Rockets, The Pixies, Shelleyann Orphan: Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey
Michael Azerrad, Rolling Stone, 5 October 1989
HAD SOMEONE predicted in 1978 that 49,223 people in a stadium would one day clap and sing along as the Gothic rockers in the Cure played '10:15 Saturday Night', that person would have been considered a ripe candidate for the loony bin. But that's just what happened at Giants Stadium on this balmy August night people danced, sang and had what can only be described as a good time as the Cure played some of pop's most melancholy music.
