Bob Dylan: Dylan
Michael Gray, Let It Rock, April 1974
ME, I LIKE IT. I don't accept the much-aired view that if it had been up to Dylan, he would never have issued an album of this calibre which, at base, is what Robin Denselow meant when he dramatically declared it "the most embarrassing piece of plastic ever issued in the name of a great artist." (In any case, he can't have heard the Holly In The Hills LP or half of the Jimi Hendrix catalogue.) On the contrary, Dylan has issued a similar-standard album in the past: Self Portrait, of which it seems fair enough to regard this as a third volume.
