THEY MAY HAVE changed their surname, but Jefferson Starship have arrived at a conciliatory relationship with their past, and with mixed results. With Marty Balin back in the fold, and ‘White Rabbit’ back in the repetoire, the latest installment of the pioneer west coast group, even in the absence of the original instrumental focus (Kaukonen and Cassidy), the past five years might never have occured. The Starship is an instituion.
