Leonard Bernstein: Lenny's song and dance in Vienna

LEONARD BERNSTEIN'S Mass, the piece commissioned to open the Kennedy Arts Center in Washington, was premiered this summer in Europe. A company of 200 took it abroad, including the Yale Symphony Orchestra conducted by John Manceri, as well as assorted singers, dancers and "bisexuals from the New Haven Community." That last bit from Gary Lucas who was there playing lead guitar — after his successful stint with the Highly Touted Tiven Band. Gary is a ZW Contributor and naturally therefore — how you say — filed this report. He asks that his words be prefaced with these:
