Ohio Players: Hammersmith Odeon, London
John Abbey, Blues & Soul, 18 February 1975
THE AIR of expectancy that preceded the Ohio Players was thick with excitement as the capacity-filled theatre buzzed with atmosphere. Suddenly, the rhythm started and the safety curtain lifted and the immediate reaction took your breath away. Because this was London's first glimpse of a group that has climbed from being top of the second division to top of the first in just twelve months. They currently stand top of both album and singles charts in America and have done for more than a month and that, I can assure you, is no mean feat.
