STANLEY CLARKE is a great bass player even if he is a Scientologist; his involvement in defining Fusion (so-called) Music as a genre has been overwhelming. He is the Fusion bassist. What's more, in a recent Craw feature, he asserted that his solo work has avoided the frenetic excesses of jazz-rock.
