UNMEN MIX up field recordings with programmed grooves, guitar, piano, brass — anything that sounds right. This approach is not so strange, considering that leader Giles Perring is an active member of Echo City — pragmatists extraordinaire — who construct instruments from materials available at any well-stocked builder's merchants. Both he and the other half of the duo, Nick Cash, also featured in Fad Gadget. What comes out is an all-systems-open approach which is neither overtly high nor low-tech, but rather, alternative tech.
