Blitz Night: Hurrah, New York NY

Jim Green, Trouser Press, May 1981

ARE THE futurists a spin-off of the Star Trek fanatics? Nope, they're just the newest British cultists of individuality, using make-up and dress that amalgamates Bowie-via-Numan, '30s Berlin, commedia dell'arte and Scottish kilts. The music they dance (or pose) to is electro-pop offered by groups like Spandau Ballet and Visage, the latter a pre-Ultravox reformation project fronted by one Steve Strange.
