TRY THIS FOR an example of musical minimalism: a man sits on a stool before a single microphone at the centre of a stage which is otherwise empty save for two black monitor speakers. He wears spectacles, and is dressed in a grey suit and tie. Very quietly, for nearly two hours, he sings (in Portuguese) and plays acoustic guitar, making no announcements between songs.
