The director Michael Lindsay-Hogg — who is known as much for his pioneering film and video work with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones as for such television and theater landmarks as Brideshead Revisited, The Normal Heart, and Agnes of God — was talking on an afternoon of unforgiving heat in the ingeniously converted garage behind his 1920s Spanish Mission house in Los Angeles.
