FIRST THINGS first. It's age before beauty. Young before youth. Finally, the worst kept secret in rock — that Neil Young was recording an album with Pearl Jam — is officially out. The relationship between the two parties, conceived in the charitable bed of Young's favoured San Francisco base, the Bridge Foundation (a special education facility for handicapped kids) was nurtured on the litter-strewn sward of Finsbury Park in 1993 when Eddie Vedder and chums joined Young and the Booker T band at the show's close.
