PERHAPS THE farthest-reaching cultural upheaval of our era is the formation of subcultures on every plane of society as an escape from the total immensity of establishment. This development has gradually seeped into the rock industry as well and The Who are now marketing a rash of solo albums. Don't forget that when you talked about The Who you're talking about a group that grew up with the hip movement, evolving on a parallel course, reflecting and feeding back the general flow of heads.
