LAST TIME I saw Primal Scream they seemed in their death throes, wheezing and spluttering like a fine vintage car struggling to get up a steep hill with drunk driver Bobby Gillespie threatening to veer off into a ditch. Eighteen months later and, never a band for half-measures, they've had a total refit. The Primals are now a five-piece, with just two original members left — Gillespie and Young, who's switched from bass to guitar.
