John Mendelssohn, UCLA Daily Bruin, 9 April 1969

Brother Dave had the longest hair in the Rockdom of the day and played one of the fastest (albeit sloppiest) lead guitars then extant. And fellow Kinks Peter Quaife and Mick Avory were loved by national television audiences for their inane grin and inability to hold onto drumsticks on Hullabulloo, respectively.
