Bruce Malamut
Bruce Malamut was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on October 1, 1952. He moved with his mother to the Upper East Side of New York City in the late 1950s, where he spent the rest of his life. Over the years, he taught several courses at local colleges, and finished his career on the faculty at the Fashion Institute of Technology, SUNY, specializing in international trade.
Starting in college, he wrote reviews for magazines such as Crawdaddy, the Village Voice, Rolling Stone, Circus, Penthouse, and Creem. He also served as a talent scout, at home and abroad. As a musician, he was known for his work with brass instruments (especially French Horn) and on the drums. He was seen trading solos with Paul Butterfield in New York. When Bruce was not kept busy with the music scene, he was avidly following local and national politics.
Bruce died in February 2024.
